The natural diagonal twisting known as “shako” is also embraced as part of the design. This movement causes the sleeves and hem to gently puff outward, creating a softer touch and a more comfortable feel against the skin. In many cut-and-sew garments, a process called gumming is applied to prevent the edges of the fabric from curling. This involves applying adhesive slightly inside the fabric edge, drying it to create stiffness, and then trimming away the curled outer portion. For the 1027, we intentionally avoid this process, allowing natural distortion and character to develop through wear. By using a medium-weight fabric, the garment gains a relaxed shape and texture without becoming overly limp. It strikes a balance between softness and structure—a cut-and-sew piece that retains its character and spirit, even after repeated washing. 30/- Coma Cotton Cut sew cotton 100 Combed yarn is typically made using fine counts of 40 or higher. For the 1027, we use high-quality extra-long staple cotton to create a luxurious combed fabric with a thicker 30-count yarn. The result is a medium-weight fabric with a unique texture—neither too thin nor too heavy—offering a soft and comfortable feel. As with previous versions, the fabric is knitted using single yarn without applying gumming treatments, allowing natural diagonal distortion to appear. Rather than eliminating this characteristic, we embrace it as part of the design, incorporating the natural slant of the fabric as an intentional element of the piece.
