This is one of Dhal’s signature styles, continuously developed as a staple piece. The shoulders are designed with a clean, refined silhouette, while the body has a comfortable amount of room, creating a well-balanced overall shape. The collar is designed to naturally sit slightly away from the neck, creating a light and relaxed feeling when worn. The side lines of the collar are shaped to follow the contours of the face, carefully considering both the fit and the appearance when worn. To highlight the natural expression of the fabric, the design is kept simple with minimal detailing. Lightweight and highly breathable, this material makes the shirt comfortable even during warmer seasons, making it an ideal piece for summer. It pairs beautifully with straight-leg pants, while the clean shoulder line also creates balance when styled with voluminous pants or skirts, preventing the silhouette from feeling oversized or unstructured. One of the joys of summer is also the combination of a long-sleeve shirt with shorts, creating a relaxed yet refined look. COTTON LINEN CHAMBRAY / cotton 65% linen 35% This chambray fabric is produced in the Nishiwaki region of Japan, an area renowned for its expertise in yarn-dyed shirting fabrics. From weaving to finishing, the entire process is carried out within the region. The weft yarn combines linen with TOP-dyed cotton yarn. TOP dyeing is a technique in which fibers are dyed in multiple colors before being spun into yarn, creating a rich and dimensional color expression. The yarn is spun at a factory that operates the only remaining British-style spinning machines in Japan. Unlike modern high-speed spinning methods, these machines twist the fibers slowly while allowing air to remain within the yarn, creating a soft, voluminous texture with a natural warmth. After being captivated by this slow and thoughtful approach to craftsmanship, we continue to explore this method every season. The process creates a naturally uneven character and depth of color, resulting in a texture and expression unique to this fabric. For this version, the natural slub texture of linen is combined with the melange effect of TOP-dyed cotton, creating a layered surface reminiscent of colors found in nature. During the yarn-making process, subtle traces of pink, yellow, pale blue, and white fibers are blended into the yarn and appear here and there throughout the fabric. These small variations invite you to discover delicate hints of color each time you look at the material. The yarn spun on British-style spinning machines also creates a structure that holds air within the weave, providing excellent breathability and a surprising lightness despite its appearance. In addition, some of the TOP-dyed yarns incorporate naturally colored fibers dyed with plant-based dyes alongside conventional dyes, adding to the fabric’s gentle and organic expression.
